The purpose of this document is to enable separate entities that use the INF codes to provide interconnecting equipment that operates compatibly. The document (1) provides additional information on the intended information-conveying structure of the INF code that is specified in ANSI T1.104-1992, (2) specifies the intended initial and future numbering scheme for the INF code, (3) provides administrative guidelines for assigning additional information items to be conveyed by the INF code, and (4) suggests initial decimal INF codes that will convey the specific information items currently recognized by T1.
