This document specifies Metallic Interface of the Very-high-speed Digital Subscriber Lines (VDSL). The document defines the VDSL functional requirements and the transceiver specification based on Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). These items include the duplexing method, spectral frequency plan, power spectral density (PSD) mask, operation and maintenance (OAM) and electrical characteristics of the service splitter. The transport medium for VDSL signals is a single twisted pair that may simultaneously support Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), voice-band data service and Basic Rate Integrated Service Digital Network (BR ISDN) service.
