This standard describes acceptable methods for obtaining
representative samples of wood preservatives under most
phases of shipment, storage and use. Since samples may
have to be obtained under varying conditions, it may be
necessary or advisable to depart from the sampling routines
described in this Standard. Good judgment, skill and
experience are required to obtain representative samples in
unique circumstances. It should always be remembered,
however, that it is essential to obtain a sample or a
composite of several samples in such a manner and from
such locations that the sample or composite is truly
representative of the material being sampled.
