The purpose of this document is to help utilities and other pole owners understand how to develop, implement and manage a wood pole maintenance program. An overall pole asset management plan can prolong asset life, reduce failures or outages, improve reliability, limit potential cliams or liability and allow for more efficient deployment of line crews thereby optimizing overall system costs. This document discusses the various components of an effective pole maintenance program including personnel requirements, inspection methods, remedial treatment products, and data bamagement requirements for a wood pole maintenance program.
