This standard provides a method for third-party agencies to evaluate inspection data based on average percent core failures for penetration data and a confidence interval of the median for retention data. It is applicable to residential and commercial products, including but not limited to lumber, timbers, and plywood. These products are generally treated without a written specification from the end user and are generally supplied through retail lumber dealers and home centers to consumers and contractors for use in residential and commercial construction. It provides requirements for increased inspection, warning and disqualification when conformance fails to meet specified levels. This evaluation method does not modify or change any current penetration or retention requirement in the AWPA standards.
