This Code covers welding requirements applicable to welded structures. It is to be used in conjunction with any complementary code or specification for the design and construction of steel structures. It is not intended to apply to pressure vessels or pressure piping. Requirements that are essentially common to all structures are covered in sections 1 through 7, and 11, while provisions applying exclusively to static loading, dynamic loading, or tubular structures are included in sections 8,9, and 10, respectively.

Note: The use of prequalified joints is not intendedas a substitute for engineering judgement with respect to the suitability of application of these joints to a welded assembly.
