Application

This Code covers welding requirements as they apply to any type of welded structure and is to be used in conjunction with any complementary code or specification for the design and construction of steel structures. It is not intended to apply to pressure vessels or pressure piping. Requirements that are essentially common to all structures are covered in Sections 1 through 7 while provisions applying exclusively to Buildings (static loading), Bridges (dynamic loading), or Tubular Structures are included in Sections 8, 9, and 10 respectively.

All references to the need for approval shall be interpreted to mean approval by the Building Commissioner,l the Engineer,2 or the duly designated person acting for and in behalf of the owner on all matters within the scope of this Code. Hereinafter, the term Engineer will be used, and it is to be construed to mean the Building Commissioner, the Enoineer, or the duly designated person who acts for and in behalf of the owner on all matters within the scope of this Code.
