Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a simulation modeling method that has been
applied in a wide range of scientific fields over the past quarter century and is being used
with increasing frequency in the water supply field. The objectives of this paper are: to provide an overview summary of the history and general methodologies of CFD
modeling; to enumerate potential issues in the application of CFD modeling of
distribution system tanks and reservoirs; and, to provide a case study application of
CFD modeling to a large reservoir. Includes 11 references, table, figures.
