The Seminole Tribe of Florida (STOF) consists of five reservations throughout Florida. The STOF is
currently implementing an overall capital improvement program to all of the water and
wastewater treatment facilities at various reservations, including the Hollywood and Brighton
Reservations.
The primary objective of this paper focuses on the development of groundwater systems for
the Brighton and Hollywood Reservations. The following topics are discussed:
development of new wells without impacting neighboring systems or wetlands;
maintenance of the required groundwater wells clearances and set-backs;
selection of pretreatment process to avoid fouling of pressure membrane;
adjustments of permeate water quality to provide non-aggressive water quality conditions and
eliminate impact on the distribution system water quality;
brine disposal using two different approaches for each plant; and,
common feed facilities for specific chemicals for the wastewater plant at the Hollywood site.
