This slide presentation outlines a community outreach program developed for the new Twin Oaks Valley Water Treatment Plant construction project, as part of the San Diego County Water Authority. Outreach objectives included:
get community involved before
designing the plant;
establish relationships with community
residents;
work with community to identify and
resolve concerns; and, let community help shape project. Project parameters included:
design/build/operate required;
plant size and phase construction
dependent on desalination schedule;
required plant elements included lighting, security, and
24-hour operation;
must stay within budget; and,
must begin producing water by April 2008. Issues and concerns of the project were divided into three
categories:
facility design;
facility construction; and,
plant operation. The Water Authority's outreach approach, success tips, and lessons learned are all outlined.
