This slide presentation outlines a study to: investigate how storage tanks impact water
quality;
evaluate and assess all 50
distribution tanks;
design modifications for reservoirs
and elevated tanks; and,
study mixing options for standpipes. The general approach involved:
reservoirs, tanks with Aspect Ratios (H/D) ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ 1;
use the split design as in the Higdon tests;
standpipes, tanks with Aspect Ratios (H/D) ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ 1;
three nozzles located along a vertical plane will be sufficient;
locate the lowest nozzle at ¿¿¿¿ the elevation of the average
HWL;
locate the top nozzle just below the average LWL;
increase the nozzle diameter with the increase in elevation;
decrease the effective diameter with respect to the
maximum allowable head loss;
use Duckbill Checkvalves;
allows for reduction in effective diameter; and,
provides flexibility to meet target velocities at lower than
expected flowrates. Includes table, figures.
