This slide presentation outlines a project to develop a utility energy index for producing industry-wide energy performance metrics for
water and wastewater utilities to be used for comparing performance to peers, an ideal,
identifying savings potential, and
prioritizing where to look for improvements. Project goals included:
Collect Data (surveys);
Define Comparison Framework;
Create Metrics;
Water / Wastewater; and,
Demonstrate Use (case studies). The presentation outlines developing meaningful metrics, provides an information model, survey topics, single/multi-parameter models, additional data characteristics, energy use by category, and moving toward best practice. Includes figures.
