This powerpoint presentation begins by providing background information on the Collier County, Florida, Water Department. Current projects includes:
South County Regional Water
Treatment Plant (SCRWTP) and
Northeast County Regional Water
Treatment Plant (NERWTP).
SCRWTP RO Facility consisted of:
First Phase - 8 MGD;
Project Delivery - 2 years late;
January 2005 Substantial Completion;
August 2005 Final Completion;
Terminated General Contractor;
Completed by Recovery Contractor; Second Phase - 12 MGD;
on schedule;
March 2007 Substantial Completion; and,
August 2007 Final Completion. NERWTP Project consisted of:
Currently at 90% Design;
2008 Construction Start;
"Water in the pipe" by January 2012; and,
$74.5 M Project Estimate. Today's Cost of Capacity (per MGD) includes:
Total $37.4 M;
Storage $2.3 M;
Distribution Transmission $21.2 M;
Water Treatment $9.12 M; and,
New Raw Water Supply $4.78 M. Total Planned Capital Program to 2025 included:
Potable Water $ 1.475 billion;
Wastewater $ 1.211 billion; and,
Total $ 2.686 billion. Conclusions were that:
Collier County is a responsible utility committed to
staying in compliance and meeting demand in spite of
the rapid rate of growth:
Collier County remains committed to the utilization of
alternative water supplies in meeting its future potable
water needs;
Potable water will become more expensive;
Water must be "best value" but priced appropriately;
not under-valued; and,
User Fees and Impact Fees have to be kept within
the customer's ability to pay. Water Conservation Initiatives are listed.
