This powerpoint presentation begins by providing background information on Legionella pneumophila in water systems. A study was done on controlling Legionella by
altering typical water quality
parameters. Tested conditions are given, along with factors for two different base waters, and the experimental set-up. Results observed no effect for alkalinity,
organic matter,
potassium and nitrate,
phosphate,
ammonia, and
iron. Conclusions showed
a significant decrease in Legionella
resulted from:
adding 2160 ppb Cu<sup>2+</sup>;
raising the pH to 11; and,
raising the temperature to 53ºC. Includes figures.
