This powerpoint presentation begins by providing the SCC goal of getting as close to the hardness
goal with as little chemical as
possible all while producing
excellent settled water quality.
The Theory of Operation/Misconceptions is presented, along with
optimizing performance,
key indicators of performance,
understanding the SCC, and
new tools for operation. Presentation
conclusions indicate that: the key to optimized SCC operation is
generating an inventory of large uniform
diameter solids that remain in suspension;
SCC's can be difficult to operate due to
the solids removed on a daily basis as
compared to the inventory; and,
mass balance combined with simple
algorithms and existing SCADA
capabilities can create a system which
manages operation. Includes figures.
