This study begins by providing a brief overview of the city of Carrabelle, Florida. Project objectives include the following: provide modular treatment units for ease of
future capacity expansion;
provide the initial treatment system with
sufficient capacity to treat the near term
growth only, with initial installation;
depend on modular nature of selected
technology to expand capacity when
required;
treat water to resolve DBP compliance
problems and other regulatory requirements
of concern;
defer treatment for aesthetic issues due to
budgetary constraints; maximize use of existing infrastructure;
do not adversely impact the sanitary sewer
transmission or treatment system with
treatment residuals;
if technically and economically feasible,
utilize the same treatment technology for
both systems; and,
provide an operator-friendly system. Water quality and treatment goals are presented, along with
alternatives analysis,
pilot-study results, design considerations, and
current project status. Includes tables, figures.
