This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Winnipeg, Canada lead control program. Project objectives include the following: determine lead levels; determine conditions affecting lead levels; and,
review options for remedial action. Previous city research including pilot water stabilization
program is presented, along with
recommendations,
design and construction of chemical feed facility,
implementation of lead control program, and
operator issues. Future plans include the following:
based on consultant recommendations, the 2 ppm
orthophosphate feed has become the maintenance dose for
permanent control;
lead testing at households continues but we hope to
eventually replace it with a surrogate system based on the
pilot; discussions with the provincial regulators are ongoing; waiting to determine the potential impact of the Health
Canada corrosion control document;
the feed system will be integrated with the water treatment
plant when completed; and, communicating with the customer
at yearly large customer seminar, and
information is offered on the departmental website. Includes figures.
