This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the presentation objectives that include the following: define geographic considerations in demand planning
and management;
provide an example of geospatial data processing and
modeling from Tampa Bay Water; and,
identify benefits (and costs) of using geospatial
approaches. Results and benefits include the following:
geospatial aggregation provides benefits;
more data to model/analyze
(but not overwhelming amount);
greater resolution in demand relationships;
greater precision of and more confidence in
elasticity estimates;
built a finer-scale familiarity with service area;
more detailed knowledge about regional demand;
more detailed understanding of demographic trends
across area; and,
visualization is helpful, but underlying database is
fundamental, data management critical.
