This powerpoint presentation presents four task groups, including the following:
Low-lying countries (deltas),
Chair - Gertjan Zwolsman (Kiwa Water Research, NL);
Retreating snowpack,
Chair - Paul Fleming (Seattle Public Utilities, USA);
Arid conditions,
Chair - Chris Davis (University of Technology, Sydney); and,
Mitigation,
Chair - Daniel Nolasco (Nolasco associates, Canada). Task group activities are presented and include the following:
goals -
information exchange and
identification of "best" practices for adaptation/mitigation; and,
possible activities -
drafting of a position paper (feeding into WWF5, 2009),
contributions to newsletter, website and discussion forum, and
organization of training courses and workshops, etc. The International Water Association (IWA) November 17-18 Amsterdam Workshop adaptation/mitigation
objectives include the following:
discuss position papers of the Task Forces on
adaptation of utilities dependent on snow pack water resources,
adaptation of utilities to a drying (arid) climate,
adaptation of utilities in low-lying countries (runoff, sea level rise), and
mitigation measures (reducing carbon footprints of utilities);
prepare a statement for WWF-5 on behalf of IWA; and,
prepare an IWA position at WWF-5 and CoP-15.
