This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the 34 mgd David C. McCollom Water Treatment Plant (WTP) built in 2002,
expanded in 2003, and its treatment process. Ultrafiltration (UF) system upgrades are presented, along with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations, addition of tank drains, current plant performance, pilot testing, performance objectives, two source waters, enhanced pretreatment process, reduced pretreatment process, and test configuration. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: OMWD currently evaluating alternatives for
plant improvements; full tank drains will improve water quality,
allow maintenance cleans, and comply with
regulations; extending backwash frequency to 3 hours
was effective at improving recovery (to 93%)
without long term performance impacts. Includes figures.
