This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of aluminum (Al) post-precipitation, and the Lake Michigan utilities' treatment processes for Al. Primary objectives included:
mechanisms of formation of Al - PO<sub>4</sub> precipitate;
can adjusting blended phosphate corrosion
inhibitor stop precipitate from forming;
are there other operational parameters that can
keep this precipitate from forming; and,
recommendation on remediation. XRD and SEM-EDS data from
pipe coupons are presented, along with aluminum solubility in the
presence of phosphate. Includes figures.
