This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of photocatalysis for water treatment. Adsorbent catalyst supports are presented, along with synthesis of SiO2-TiO2 composites (STC), STC testing and characterization, STC performance testing, and presentation conclusions that indicate the following:
STC were created with varying pore sizes and
surface areas;
TiO2 addition decreased specific surface area and
pore volume;
up to 87% of the TiO2 was available on the
surface of the STCs;
more TiO2 surface area was available with
increased TiO<sub>2</sub> loading;
IEP and band gap energies of the STCs were not
largely affected; and,
STC successfully degraded TOC of graywater to
less than the 500 ppb limit. Includes tables, figures.
