This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the problem of "loading" the network with excessive pressure
during the hours that the water demand is low and energy is
wasted, and
wasted energy and loss of water result in great income
loss. The solution includes: the best way to reduce the non revenue
water level in the system is to divide the system into district
metering areas (DMA);
each DMA receives supply from a single source (pipeline),
a pressure management valve (PMV) is installed at the
entrance of every DMA and allows real time monitoring and
control of pressure and flow;
by using the PMV, it is possible to identify new leaks in the
system and repair the leaks in the shortest time; and,
the PMV manages the pressure in the DMA dynamically -
for high demand the PMV supplies high pressure and for low
demand supplies minimum pressure. The PMV reacts instantly
to fire protection flow requirement. Several examples are presented including: Inverness Bunker PRV's Pressure Optimization; the village of Azmon, Israel; and, economic example of Tarbert, Scotland. Includes tables, figures.
