This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Pennsylvania American Water, and
the increasing need to reduce non-revenue water (NRW).
Study components included: analyze the main break/leak database to identify
correlations and trends in the occurrence of main
breaks/leaks;
establish metered zones to enhance the ability to
track non-revenue water;
develop recommendations for reduced pressure
zones in the distribution systems with the objective of
reducing the occurrence of breaks/leaks and to help reduce
leakage;
analyze the potential surge conditions created by
the operation of a primary High Service Pump Station and
their potential impact on premature main failure and develop
recommendations to control potential pressure surges; and,
develop criteria to analyze the accuracy of small
meters (2 inch and smaller) in the system. Includes figures.
