This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Australia's Western Corridor Recycled Water
Project, and specifically the Luggage Point Advanced Water Treatment Plants (AWTP) Project. Key design criteria of the full-
scale plant is presented, along with the pilot testing treatment train, and process design criteria. Specialized piloting objectives included: optimize reverse osmosis (RO) recovery;
minimize NDMA formation; and,
maximize nutrient removal. Conclusions indicate that: pretreatment allowed 85% recovery on RO to
be achieved by
providing significant phosphorus removal, which
limited calcium phosphate scaling on RO,
providing significant organics removal, which
limited biofouling, and
high recovery lowers costs;
preforming monochloramines can
significantly reduce NDMA formation, and
NDMA well removed by UV-AOP process; and,
excellent nutrient removal provided by
pretreatment, MF, and RO processes. Includes tables, figures.
