Laboratory testing was performed on aged pipes in order to characterize the relationship
between reduced pipe diameter and Hazen-Williams C. Tests included physical hydraulic
measurements performed in a laboratory setting as well as computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
modeling. The results of the physical testing and the CFD modeling were then applied to a
network model using EPANET 2. The network modeling application demonstrates the
magnitude and types of errors that can be introduced into a network model by ignoring possible
changes in the flow area of aged pipes. Includes 15 references, tables, figures.
