This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the EUREAU and its Drinking Water Directive. The EUREAU, a federation of national associations of
water suppliers and wastewater services, is a
network of practitioners
serving ca. 405 million customers. The objectives of the 1998 EUREAU Drinking Water Directive include the following:
protecting the health of the consumers;
making sure the water is wholesome and clean;
applicable to supplies >50 people or >10 m3 per day; and,
informing citizens about the quality of their drinking water. The staged approach to protecting the health of consumers is outlined, along with standards for microbiological parameters, disinfection byproducts, inorganics, organics, radioactivity, and indicators parameters. National set-ups,
likely changes, and
likely impacts to utilities are all presented. Includes tables.
