This paper examines the integration, strategic planning cycle, and management of information systems in the Atlanta Water Bureau, as well as proposed automated systems that have not yet been implemented. Discussed are the Wang office/administrative system, a maintenance management system, and geographic mapping and computer drafting programs. The information trends in the 1990s will affect what plans are developed and how new technology impacts on the present hardware and software. It is important that the investment of hardware and software for water systems are planned and managed in an efficient manner.
