This paper concludes that the practice of conjunctive use is an option for those who have surplus groundwater supplies to meet their customer demand. On the other hand it is necessary for those who have limited groundwater resources and would like to protect and preserve such resources from further depletion or degradation. Practice of conjunctive use is an absolute necessity for Artesian Water Company, which is a major groundwater purveyor in Delaware. Since Artesian started practicing conjunctive use, its groundwater supplies have been stabilized and noticed no further depletion of available groundwater supplies. Artesian has scheduled plans to rest each of its wellfields for a period of one month every year.
