The Surface Water Committee of the Resources Division of AWWA developed and distributed a questionnaire to determine the state of definition and use of dependable (safe yield) for planning in the water utility industry. The purpose of the survey is the collection of sufficient background data with which to identify the general nature of system supplies, determine a basis from which to generalize how dependable yield is typically established and identify a consensus of the nature and importance placed on both drought contingency and long range water supply planning.
