Knowing the uncertainties in the future of energy, we must review the ways in which we consume energy today and reduce the amount of energy we consume tomorrow. Historically, the cost of both limited energy resources and clean air were not considered in the selection of pump discharge valves. The future criteria for pump discharge valve selection must include energy consumption and conservation. In doing so, the proper choice in pump discharge valve selection will be the valve with the highest coefficient of flow, the full-ported valve.
