The City of Brighton is located approximately 22 miles northeast of Denver, Colorado, and has a population of 14,000 people. Historically, the city has been primarily an agricultural and farming community, and agriculture continues to be one of the city's major industries. This paper addresses the challenges Brighton has had with its raw water source, the basis for selecting reverse osmosis (RO) for treatment of their water; the pilot study conducted on RO; specific design requirements for the RO system; and plant construction costs.
