To create an environment where people strive toward peak performance, we must find the areas where organizational needs and goals overlap individual needs, goals and capabilities. This is the essence of team building. Think of it in terms of two overlapping circles, one representing the value system of the organization, and the other representing the value system of the individuals. The more the circles overlap, the more effective the organization tends to become, the less the impact of the organizational black hole, and the smaller the synergy gap.
