The rapid small-scale column test (RSSCT) is a dynamically scaled version of a large-scale contactor. Scaling equations have been developed and mathematical relationships established between small- and full-scale adsorbers. The scaling equations relate the small- and large-scale diffusion coefficients, empty-bed contact times (EBCT), operation times, and operating velocities. A procedure is outlined that was used in preparation and operation of a RSSCT.
