The PPG Chlorinating Systems offer an attractive alternative to chlorination technology based on using calcium hypochlorite as the source of chlorine. Comprised of PPG's patented and patent-applied-for flow-through chemical feeders and 3 inch tablets, the system is currently being used in a wide variety of water treatment applications ranging from drinking water to poultry and meat processing. This system is particularly well suited to drinking water "post chlorination" practices which occur in the field, often in neighborhood settings. Operator and Managerial acceptance is extremely favorable due to the advantages of handling the product, the trouble-free equipment and the resulting water quality. Chlorate ion levels are lower and controllable using the PPG Chlorination System compared to systems using (sodium) hypochlorite solution feedstocks. The simple design and operating principle of the system yields chlorine delivery performance that is reproducible and predictable. The delivery rate does not decrease as the initial chemical charge is consumed.
