The City of Scottsdale developed and is implementing the Water Campus project, an innovative approach to the area's growing need for additional water supplies. As part of the project, the City proposes to design and construct an advanced waste treatment (AWT) plant to produce "drinking-water-quality" effluent for groundwater injection. The AWT plant will include microfiltration (MF) as pretreatment for nanofiltration (NF) or reverse osmosis (RO). The City's consultants, the joint venture of Black & Veatch/Greeley and Hansen (BV/GH), developed and conducted a pilot program to determine full-scale design criteria for the plant.
