Chloramine stability was investigated in Upper San Leandro (USL) Reservoir filtered water at East Bay Municipal Utility District. Laboratory decay tests were conducted at various pH and total organic carbon (TOC) concentrations. Chloramine stability increased with increasing pH and decreasing TOC. Chloramine stability and its relationship to nitrification were also investigated in the distribution system. Increasing pH and blending two different waters to achieve a lower TOC concentration has improved chloramine stability in the distribution system.
