This standard covers pebble, lump, and ground quicklime and hydrated lime for use in water supply service. The main purpose of this standard is to provide purchasers, manufacturers, and suppliers with the minimum requirements for quicklime and hydrated lime, including physical, chemical, packaging, shipping, and testing requirements. Major changes to the 1988 standard made in this edition include the following: The format has been changed to AWWA standard style; The acceptance clause (Sec. I.C) and the definitions of parties (Sec. 3) have been revised to approved wording; Information regarding the Water Chemicals Codex has been deleted (Sec. I.C of the foreword; Chain-of-custody recommendations are included in Sec. 5.1.3.2; Information on calcium hydroxide equivalence has been deleted; and Super sacks are mentioned as suitable packaging in Sec. 6.2.
The addendum revises or replaces Page v, Sec. I.C; Page viii, Sec. III.A; and Page 3, Sec. 4.3; and adds to Page 3 a new subsection 4.3.2.
