This standard covers grooved and shouldered joints for steel and ductile-iron pipe, metallic pressure pipe of iron pipe size, and for fittings and other components for water and other liquids from 3/4 inch (19 mm) for IPS pipe through 60 inches (1524 mm) in diameter for steel pipe. The joints are intended for use in jointing pipe, fittings, or other components where positive longitudinal locking action is desired. When this standard is used for pipe materials other than those mentioned above, modification may be required. This standard includes requirements for materials, dimensions, tolerances, finishes, tests, testing procedures.
