This paper outlines the work of the Water Regulations Advisory Committee and
will present the main outcomes of its recommendations. The impact of the new Water
Regulations on the design and operation of water supply and drainage systems within
buildings will be discussed with a particular emphasis on the areas of reduced flush
volume introduction, specifically a 6 liter/3 liter dual flush recommendation, reduced
shower flows and the introduction of non-siphonic modes of w.c. flushing apparatus,
including both the drop valve and other innovative methodologies.
Also discussed are both the engineering and "political" aspects of
this change in United Kingdom practice, introd
along with introducing the continuing remit of WRAC to audit the
efficiency of the Water Regulation encorcement process over the first two years
of implementation. Includes 23 references.
