The major parameter influencing water quality in the distribution system is the age of the water. Tracer studies using fluoride are used to track water quality over time. In two locations, tracer studies were conducted, in which fluoride was turned off for a week and samples taken daily at a number of sites throughout the distribution systems. To visualize the data and to preserve the spatial relations of the data, computer programs were written which animate the change of water quality at the sampling points using a color code for quality. This paper describes each of the two studies and describes the animation program.
