This paper will present some rules and guidelines for using computer graphics to present GIS results. The unique requirements of maps for wall charts, reports, and audiovisual presentation, such as slide shows and videos, will be presented. Development procedures for each presentation medium will be discussed along with the opportunities and limitations that must be considered in the graphic design of the maps with desktop computer systems. A detailed discussion of the development of a 12-minute video is presented as an illustration of many of the rules, guidelines, and procedures that are presented in this paper.
