Because of financial constraints, the East Bay Municipal Utility District (District) will operate and maintain a new radio system with existing staff. Fortunately, the new radios used for the expansion provide labor saving features that were not available with the District's original Multiple Address System. These features include frequency synthesizers and built-in diagnostics. Frequency synthesizers provide an easy way to change a radio's frequency, while built-in diagnostics display and control key radio parameters using a laptop or personal computer.
