Disinfection is fundamental to water treatment and the systems used must be robust, reliable and attain the required performance. Severn Trent Water has developed, and is using, computer programs to streamline the design process and standardize on the equipment and control systems used to meet these demands, and so reduce costs. The software can be used on a PC and provides sufficient flexibility for a wide variety of users to achieve good results. A hydraulic simulation program provides another tool to assist the engineer in the design of disinfection contacting systems.
