This paper discusses the flushing and sampling process used at the Louisville Water Company (LWC) to assure customers that the same clean, safe and dependable water supply they trust LWC to provide every day is still available to them following main break events. Topics covered in the paper include: background on how and why the process developed; an overview of the process itself; primary areas of emphasis in the training program; and, some lessons learned over the two and one-half years the process has been in full effect.
