This slide presentation outlines key points in optimized plant performance and gives information on how Partnership for Safe Water can assist treatment plants in optimizing their performance. The Public Health Protection Challenge is outlined and a listing is given of recent outbreaks from Cryptosporidium in surface water supplies. The basis for optimization performance goals is given and charts showing the impacts of lower turbidity on protozoan and bacterial pathogen removal and on virus removal are included, along with a chart of the impact of backwash recovery spikes on filter performance.
