This presentation discusses how the use of stainless steel pipe is gaining popularity with water utilities. Topics covered include: the two primary classes of material, austenitic stainless steels (more commonly known as the 18/8 or 300 series alloys) and the duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steels that offers increased strength while retaining the corrosion resistance of the first class of materials; suitability for handling of potable waters servicing large municipal areas and remote locations; suitability for handling treated waters; and, used for the distribution of waters in buildings. The benefits of stainless steel pipe are listed.
