The research objectives of this AwwaRF report on leakage management technologies included: assessment of current leakage management
practices in North America;
review United Kingdom and international approach to
proactive leakage management technologies;
assess the practicality of applying these
technologies to North American water utilities; and,
provide guidance on how to practically and
cost effectively apply these technologies to
North American water utilities. The presentation lists International Leakage
Management Practices that were field tested for use in the U.S., along with the differences between United Kingdom and North American
distribution systems. Topics outlined include: district metered areas (DMA) design criteria and DMA
planning in North America; application of advanced pressure management; DMA design and results - EID, SPU, PWD, HRWC; and, testing ICF estimation methods. Includes tables, figures.
