The purpose of this study was to determine if chloramines increase metals residuals in pipes and fixtures treated with phosphate-based inhibitors. This report concentrates on the findings of the corrosion inhibitor analysis. The three phosphate corrosion inhibitors (two polyphosphate blends and orthophosphate) were compared under conditions mimicked in a typical distribution system with chlorine disinfection. Data from this study was used to select an appropriate corrosion inhibitor for the needs of the Birmingham Water Works Board distribution system. Includes 13 references, extended abstract only.
