With the aging pipe network of the City the Louisville Water Company (LWC) is constantly searching for alternate methods to main replacement in extending the life of the existing facilities with minimum disruption. With a greater segment of these mains existing within the City limits in pavement, additional problems occur in busy streets where the infrastructure is such that a corridor for a new main installation does not exist. If the mains are determined to be structurally sound with low maintenance records, alternative methods to replacing mains such as cleaning and cement lining can prove to be less expensive, less disruptive, and less time monopolizing to the area. The LWC feels, with the added feature of video inspection enabling "seeing" into the mains, quality assurance is obtained.
